HARRINGTON, DE (February 10, 2014)—The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) will present its final Designer Bridal Gown Sale on Saturday, March 22 at the Delaware State Fair Grounds in Harrington. This unique event will feature hundreds of donated bridal gowns all priced at $50 with proceeds benefiting DBCC’s programs and services in Delaware and the surrounding communities.  This one-day sale will begin at 9 am and close at 4 pm.  The event is free and open to the public.

The gowns, which have been donated to DBCC by manufacturers, bridal shops and brides, will all be priced at $50.  Since this is the final bridal sale, all gowns must go. The sale will include couture and exclusive designer wedding gowns valued up to $8,000, which will be sold at a very small fraction of their original retail prices.  Gowns are of assorted sizes, styles, and designers.

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition has held three previous bridal sales and raised almost $60,000 for DBCC. “The bridal gown sale has attracted hundreds of brides and drawn interest from across the East Coast,” said Beth Berger, Communications Director for DBCC. “At the sale last March, brides were lined up before the doors opened at 9am, waiting eagerly for the chance to find a dream gown for $100!”  With prices being slashed to $50 each, staff and volunteers expect even more interest at this final bridal sale.

“The sale has been a wonderful community effort thanks to our volunteers, generous donations from bridal shops, designers, and brides,” said DBCC’s Executive Director, Vicky Cooke. “It is a great opportunity to have a fun day and educate the community about DBCC, however we plan to leave the bridal business to the experts and focus our work on ending breast cancer in Delaware in support of NBCC’s mission.” The National Breast Cancer Coalition has set a “Breast Cancer Deadline 2020,” citing a singular mission: know how to end breast cancer by January 1, 2020.

Bridal sale proceeds will be used to expand DBCC’s programs in Delaware and the surrounding communities to address breast cancer and early detection. DBCC provides access to mammograms, support and resources to women and men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and programs for breast cancer survivors. About DBCC:

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is a 501(c)(3) organization offering statewide programs and services of education, outreach, and early detection and treatment of breast cancer.  Its mission is to create a community where every person diagnosed with breast cancer is a survivor, and fear and doubt are replaced with knowledge and hope.

Headquartered in Wilmington with offices in Sussex and Kent Counties, DBCC’s programs reach diverse communities to deliver messages that address their unique concerns about breast cancer and
early detection.  Recognizing the barriers of language, culture, and economics, DBCC trains community
advocates to educate and encourage women to take responsibility for breast health.  DBCC helps women with low incomes or those with little or no insurance to receive free or reduced-cost care.  DBCC also supports the National Breast Cancer Coalition and their research efforts by helping to facilitate participation in local clinical trials.
