MILFORD, Del. (June 13, 2016)– The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is pleased to announce that the Rookery North Golf Course 9 hole group hosted a golf tournament for the Women’s Delmarva Golf Association (WDGS) on May 31. The tournament was called “Think Pink” with the focus on raising money for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.

Forty five woman from Delaware and Maryland participated in the event last month. The group included participants from Maple Dale Country Club, Wild Quail Country Club, Ocean City Country Club, Chester River Country Club, and Prospect Bay Country Club. Funds were raised through “free shot” cards, raffles, and 50/50 sales in the amount of $458.50.

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is very grateful for the generosity of all the woman who participated in this event. Proceeds will benefit DBCC’s programs which increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms, and provide support and resources to women and men in the local community who are newly diagnosed or facing recurrence of breast cancer.

About DBCC:

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is a 501(c)(3) organization offering statewide programs and services of education, outreach, and early detection and treatment of breast cancer. Its mission is to create a community where every person diagnosed with breast cancer is a survivor, and fear and doubt are replaced with knowledge and hope.

Headquartered in Wilmington with offices in Sussex and Kent Counties, DBCC’s programs reach diverse communities to deliver messages that address their unique concerns about breast cancer and early detection. Recognizing the barriers of language, culture, and economics, DBCC trains community advocates to educate and encourage women to take responsibility for breast health. DBCC helps women with low incomes and those with little or no insurance to receive free or reduced-cost care.

DBCC also supports the National Breast Cancer Coalition and their research efforts by helping to facilitate participation in local clinical trials. All funds raised for DBCC support programs in Delaware and the neighboring areas in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey.
