VIDA Multicultural Screening/Health Fair Coming to Dagsboro on July 16

DAGSBORO, DE (July 7, 2016)—The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC), with support from the Mexican Consulate of Philadelphia, Discover Bank, the Laffey-McHugh Foundation, Highmark Delaware, Beebe Healthcare, the Fund for Women, Ventanilla de Salud, and Instituto De Los Mexicanos En El Exterior, is proud to announce the next ¡VIDA!™ Multicultural Breast Screening and Health Fair will take place at the Dagsboro Church of God on Saturday, July 16 from 8:30 am to 12:30 p.m. The program will be FREE and offer health screenings, information about healthy living, community programs, snacks, and additional resources to the public.

¡VIDA!™ is a multicultural event focused on breast cancer screening, treatment, and survivorship. It began in 2011 as a bilingual (Spanish/English) educational event that has grown to include all backgrounds and ethnicities, and offers programs to women, men, and children. The Dagsboro forum will feature free glucose, cholesterol, BMI, DEXA, and blood pressure screenings from Beebe Population Health. The Mexican Consulate of Philadelphia will be on-site from 8:30 am to 2:00 p.m. to offer help with passports and matricular consular and birth certificates by appointment. Appointments can be made by calling 877-639-4835 or by visiting Snacks will be provided and families are welcome.

Cheryl Doucette, community consultant for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition said, “Our Dagsboro ¡VIDA!™ health fair will offer healthy living information and lifesaving screenings to families in need in Western Sussex County. We will have bilingual volunteers on site to help us with Spanish translation so please bring your whole family and join us.”

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is a 501(c)(3) organization offering statewide programs and services of education, outreach, and early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
