Women’s Only 5K Race to Turn Wilmington Riverfront PINK

WILMINGTON, DE (August 9, 2011)—To kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month, runners will be turning the Wilmington Riverfront pink at the Inaugural Women’s Race for the Pink Ribbon 5K on Thursday, September 22. Proceeds from this women’s only race will benefit the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC). The race will begin at 6:30 pm at Dravo Plaza on the Riverfront with registration opening at 5 pm. Registration is $20 per person or $25 after Sept. 19 and up until race day. Participants will receive a women’s fit performance tech tee, a goodie bag, and access to post race refreshments, music, a wine and beer garden and more.
The 5K course is USATF certified, and NOVA Timing Systems will chip time using MyLaps bib tags. Awards courtesy of Women’s Sports Specialties will be presented to the Overall Female winner in addition to the Top 3 runners in five age groups. Teams are also welcome to join; the top fundraising team will win the Pink Cup, and the biggest team will win the DBCC Cup.
This event is still seeking sponsors for companies who wish to support the event. Some of the sponsors on board include Women’s Sport Specialities, races2run, Pine Mt. Water Co., Franks Union Wine Mart, Dole Fresh Fruit Co., AAA, and Pizza by Elizabeth.
