Planned Gifts

One of the most popular and easiest of estate gifts to make to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is a gift through a will. Whether a simple bequest of cash, appreciated assets, or a plan that provides income for life, a will is one of the most flexible gift planning tools. If you already have a will, it is not necessary to rewrite your entire will. You may simply instruct your attorney to include a codicil, which is an amendment, to your current will or trust. For example:

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, a non-profit corporation organized and operating under the laws of the State of Delaware, the sum of $____________ , or ___________% of my estate, or the following property _____________.

A simple notarized document would suffice also.

Bequest gifts will be directed to the DBCC Endowment Fund in accordance with the DBCC Endowment Fund Policy and will continue to support the fight against breast cancer, providing a living legacy for the donor.

Life Insurance
There are several ways to donate life insurance. You may donate a life insurance policy to DBCC by transferring ownership and all rights therein. You can donate an insurance policy even if it is not fully paid up. You can name DBCC as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy and continue maintaining the policy. Consult your attorney and/or tax adviser.

IRA or other Retirement Plan
You can name DBCC as a primary or contingent beneficiary of your IRA, 401(K) or other retirement account. Donors will avoid a significant income and estate tax liability.

You may also designate DBCC as a beneficiary, or contingent beneficiary, after the death of a spouse, of your Tax-Deferred Retirement Plan.

Life Income Gifts
A Charitable Gift Annuity is one of the simplest and most often utilized approaches to planned charitable giving. You make a gift to DBCC of cash or securities and an annuity is created. You and/or your designee receive lifetime income from the annuity based on a fixed percentage of the value of the annuity. Following your death and the death of any other annuitant, DBCC becomes the owner of the remaining assets.
