Theresa Gates joined the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition as the Program Coordinator for the Young Survivors in Action program in 2001. Gates has continued to raise the awareness of breast health and the early detection of breast cancer through: grant writing for DBCC programs; served on DBCC education, fund raising, program development, and marketing committees; served as DBCC Special Projects Coordinator networking with the Delaware Health and Social Services program Screening for Life and continues as an Outreach Specialist for DBCC. As an Outreach Specialist, Gates currently networks with the Biden Breast Health Initiative to provide a breast health program to female high school students throughout the State of Delaware.
Gates has a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and is a retired registered nurse. Theresa Gates is a 13 year breast cancer survivor and during her treatment she participated in a clinical trial. Gates is also an outreach speaker; a Peer Mentor; a member of the Army of Women and a National Breast Cancer Coalition Project LEAD Graduate.
