Survivor Programs

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s Survivor Programs are designed to educate and connect survivors to local resources and enrich the lives of those living with breast cancer.

What is a survivor?

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) believes the moment you are diagnosed with any cancer you become a survivor!

The Breast Care Assistance Fund is a critical service that DBCC is proud to offer, established to provide emergency funding and support to residents of Delaware undergoing treatment for breast cancer and facing financial barriers.

A Breast Cancer Conversation is a FREE program for people diagnosed with breast cancer who are currently in or have completed their treatment.

Participating in this group is a great way to stay connected with other survivors!

A Viva la Vida! is a free Spanish support group for those diagnosed with breast cancer who are currently in or have completed their treatment. This group is held online and in person in Sussex County. Participating in this group is a great way to meet and stay connected with other Latina survivors!

DBCC’s unique Peer Mentor Support for Breast Cancer program provides breast cancer survivors who are ready to help others with the critical education and training required to become a DBCC Certified Peer Mentor.

Once certified, Peer Mentors are matched as closely as possible with someone newly diagnosed at a similar age with a similar diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and lifestyle. DBCC Peer Mentors then provide free one-on-one personalized support.

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition Invites all stage 4 survivors and thrivers to join us for a FREE, monthly meeting for people living with Metastatic Breast Cancer.

This program is a great way to stay connected to other survivors and to learn from one another.

Young Survivors in Action focuses on the individual during and after their breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.  This group takes a holistic approach to wellness and provides monthly events for each survivor to connect, embrace, and grow.

The networking, support, and educational topics include nutrition, yoga, motivational journaling, meditation, stress, self-care, physical activity, and continuing to live your life to the fullest. We’re here to help keep you healthy and active during any phase of your treatment or recovery.

The great outdoors provides a backdrop for camaraderie and support! The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s Nurture with Nature provides a fun way for survivors to connect and relieve stress.

Nurture with Nature allows women to come together and experience nature by hiking, kayaking, biking, horseback riding, astronomy, or simply walking through a forest or along a beach.  Outings occur approximately once a month throughout all of Delaware. During the winter months, we host craft events such as baskets and jewelry making.

My Sister’s Keeper is a FREE program that offers support to people of color at any stage of life going through and surviving breast cancer by providing knowledge, understanding, and information to encourage persistence through their journey.

Survivors meet regularly for Survivors’ Social events to socialize, learn a craft, volunteer with an event, or get educated about a health topic. Meetings are generally held in Sussex County and New Castle County.

The Bosom Buddy program is free for all women. The program works to provide accessories and products to help those newly diagnosed and/or recovering from treatment and/or surgery.

  • Mastectomy Bras.
  • Breast Prosthetics.
  • Hats, Scarves, Bandanas.
  • Natural hair, and synthetic wigs
  • Additional garments.
