Survivor Programs

Programs for breast cancer survivors are held throughout the year to provide education, support and fellowship.

Young Survivors in Action (YSIA)

Young Survivors in Action (YSIA) focuses on the issues and concerns facing younger women diagnosed with breast cancer. The main goal of YSIA is to provide networking, support, and education to young women diagnosed with breast cancer in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. For more resources, please check out the “Things you need to know before mastectomy surgery: by Jan Jessup” and Breast Cancer in Young Women from the CDC by clicking here.

For more information about the YSIA program or to sign up to become a member, please contact Lois Wilkinson at (302) 672-6435 or email lwilkinson (at) debreastcancer.org.

Nurture with Nature

The great outdoors provides a backdrop for camaraderie and support! The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s Nurture with Nature provides a fun way for survivors to connect and relieve stress.

The Nurture with Nature series allows women to come together and experience nature by hiking, kayaking, biking, horseback riding, astronomy, or simply walking through a forest or along a beach.  Outings occur approximately once a month throughout all of Delaware. During the winter months we host craft events such as basket and jewelry making.

We welcome all who are newly diagnosed, currently in treatment, experiencing a recurrence, or a long term survivor to join us in our Nurture with Nature series.

For more information contact Lois Wilkinson at (302) 672-6435 or email lwilkinson (at) debreastcancer.org.

Sussex Survivor Socials

Sussex County Survivors meet regularly to socialize, learn a craft, volunteer with an event, or get educated about a health topic. Meetings are generally held in the Sussex County Office. These events are volunteer driven so ideas and suggestions for topics or speakers are always welcome.

For more information contact Connie Holdridge at (302) 644-6844 or email choldridge (at) debreastcancer.org.
