The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is inviting Haitian women to participate in a special training session to become a “Chanpyon” and make a difference in the lives of fellow Haitian women in the community.

The program is designed to empower individuals to serve as advocates, encouraging Haitian women to prioritize breast cancer screenings. Participants will receive comprehensive training and, upon graduation, will earn a gift card for their commitment to the cause.

A Champion/Chanpyon is an individual who has successfully completed DBCC’s training and graduation program. They are dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer screenings within the Haitian community, and are equipped with resources and incentives to effectively encourage others to take proactive steps for their health.

Training and graduation are set for Saturday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Dover Library, 35 Loockerman Plaza, Dover.

“We are excited to offer this important training opportunity to empower community members to become vital resources for breast cancer awareness,” said Lissette Rivera, DBCC’s Women’s Health Screening Program manager. “By becoming a Champion/Chanpyon, individuals can directly impact the health and well-being of Haitian women in our community.”

The training is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively communicate the importance of breast cancer screenings and provide support to those in need.
